The pattern was clear -- rain. Days when the rain simply poured out of the heavens where the days when he selected... tortured... and finally, killed, his unfortunate victims. The victims had no related features and absolutely no contact with each other apart from the building they lived in. That's what made the Izumi-ku Police suspicious of a male, reported at about 5'6", white and in his thirties, living in the building, which significantly cut down the suspects... to one.
Adam Foster was investigated thoroughly, interrogated and even so much as tortured, though it was kept under raps from the Kanagawa Prefecture and Yokohoma Police Force. And when his innocence was undoubtedly known, they had no choice but to release him.
And then, three days later, the killings began once again, this time, the level of violence escalating until the point where the bodies where mutilated beyond recognition and the only way to identify the cadavers where by forensic anthropologists and computer generated images based solely on the skull fragments recovered from the scene. But still, the more deaths that occurred, the more meticulous he became, retracing his steps, knowing that one fiber of evidence could mean the difference between life and death.
Soon after the body of Foster's fifteenth victim was found, a mysterious detective known only by the code name, "L" contacted the Kanagawa Police with the intent to assist them in their investigation and finally put the monster responible behind bars.
